What is Amber Quill Press?
Amber Quill Press, LLC is an Internet-based publishing company offering exciting books in electronic and paperback format. To form our roster of authors, we hand-selected writers who not only possess enormous talent, but who firmly believe in the fine art of writing, and who continually develop and excel at their chosen craft. From offering tales of gripping suspense and paranormal romance, hair-raising horror and spellbinding science fiction, to enchanting fantasies and sweeping historical sagas, Amber Quill Press, LLC is certain to have something to satisfy your needs!

What are the imprints of Amber Quill Press?
Three imprints provide AQP customers with a wide spectrum of entertaining reading material. The first book collection we created, launched in 2002, is identified under the general imprint name, Amber Quill Press, and offers non-erotic genre fiction. A second imprint, Amber Heat, encompasses our hetero erotic romance books. Amber Allure is our third imprint, consisting of gay / lesbian / bisexual / transsexual stories.

How long / How many pages are the books you publish?
As you will notice when viewing our website pages for individual books, we list the estimated "word count" (rounded to the nearest 1000), or in the case of a book also released in paperback, the actual "page count."

What are the eBook length categories?
AQP Short: 2,500 - 10,999 words (AQP imprint)
Amber Brief: 2,500 - 4,999 words (Heat / Allure imprints)
Amber Kiss: 5,000 - 10,999 words (Heat / Allure imprints)
Extended Amber Kiss: 11,000 - 17,999 words
Novella: 18,000 - 29,999 words
Extended Novella: 30,000 - 39,999 words
Novel: 40,000 - 70,999 words
Extended Novel: 71,000 + words

Why don't you list a page count for eBooks?
There is no publishing industry standard for eBook file formatting. This means that page counts vary depending upon a myriad of options available to the reader of eBooks. Software and the type of eReading device affect page count. The reader can alter the page count by setting their device to various font sizes and page margins. Page counts will also vary depending upon the format of the book file (PDF, LIT, RB, HTML, EPUB, or PRC).

What electronic formats do you offer?
Our books are currently available in HTML, Adobe PDF, MS Reader (LIT), EPUB, and Mobipocket (PRC) electronic formats. Please note older titles are also available in Rocketbook (RB) format. However, due to low customer demand, newer titles are not being formatted in RB. Details regarding formats used by popular eReader devices are available here.

Are all your books also available as paperbacks?
Not all of them. Our "novel-length" titles are typically available in both electronic and paperback formats. (Please note: Due to printing schedules and shipping times, the paperback versions of our books are usually released anywhere from one to four weeks after their electronic counterparts.) Although our shorter releases (Amber Briefs, Amber Kisses, and Novellas) are initially released only in electronic format, a paperback version of these titles may appear at a later date in the form of "single-author" anthologies / collections. When a title is available in a paperback version (either on its own or as part of an anthology / collection) we will indicate it on the individual book page with a direct link to Amazon.

What is the "heat" rating system for Amber Heat and Amber Allure?
Heat Level 1 -- Love scenes, if included, are usually mild, and will rarely contain graphic language.
Heat Level 2 -- Love scenes are sometimes explicit, may be frequent, and usually contain some graphic language. May also include mild fantasy material (playful spanking, light bondage, and toys).
Heat Level 3 -- Love scenes are explicit, frequent, and language is usually graphic. Some stories may also contain sexual situations or storylines that push the envelope (heavy bondage, spanking, as well as ménage, domination/submission, multiple sexual partners, or anal sex).

What else do I need to know about the erotic content of your Amber Heat and Amber Allure books?
Our erotica and erotic romance books contain a wide variety of sexual content, from mild to extremely explicit, depending upon the author and the genre(s) or theme(s) the story encompasses. We do not publish books containing bodily functions, pedophilia, incest, bestiality, or similar extreme topics.

What Are AmberPax™ Collections?
An AmberPax™ Collection is a group of five eBooks centered around a specific theme and written by different authors. The stories can be purchased individually or as a single unit. When purchased as a collection, the customer receives a 35% discount compared to what the cost would be if each story was bought individually. AmberPax™ Collections are sold exclusively through the Amber Quill Press website and only in electronic format.

Are you open to submissions?
Amber Quill Press, Amber Heat and Amber Allure, regularly welcome new submissions from talented authors in our industry. On occasion, however, we may be closed to submissions in one or more imprint. The Order and Downloading Processes

I'm ready to shop! How do I search your website to find an imprint / genre, book title, or author?
Amber Quill Press offers you four ways to search for books. Three of these options can be found in the left column of each webpage:
Shop By Imprint / Genre -- Find a genre within an imprint by clicking the "plus" (+) sign next to the imprint name. The genre list will appear. When you click on a genre, books will display organized by title. At this point, you can refine your shopping by selecting among these filters: Book Length, Paperback Availability, Series Books, and (Amber Heat and Amber Allure imprints only) Heat Level and Sexual Orientation. Additionally, you can select how many products will display on each genre page, as well as the order in which books will appear: whether alphabetically by title or by name of author, from the newest to oldest titles, or in order of price.
Shop By Title -- Click here and a drop-down list appears that includes all books from all imprints sold by Amber Quill Press. Titles are alphabetized by first word in the title.
Shop By Author -- The name of every author who has written material for our imprints, in alphabetical order by first name, is identified in a drop-down list.
Create Your Own Search -- Type the item for which you're searching into the box at the right end of the menu bar at the top of every page.

I've found the eBook I want to read. What's the first thing I need to do in order to buy it?
First, you must register an account with us. It's free and it's easy!

Do I need an account to buy books on the website?
Yes, you must register an account with us. Once you've entered your data, a profile is created and the system remembers your information so you never have to enter it again for future orders.

How do I create an account?
Click on "Login/Register" at the top of any webpage and you will be taken to a page that gives you the option to create an account. Near the top of the page is the question, "Are you a registered shopper with Amber Quill Press?" In the "No" section, click on "Continue" and fill out the information on the registration page. Click on "Continue" and your private Account Profile Page appears. And that's it! Your data will be stored securely on our website and you'll never have to type it in again, unless you choose to edit your personal information.

Is my account information secure?
Yes. Our website/ecommerce provider, Spark Pay (by Capital One), provides Amber Quill the following security-related services. Spark Pay sites are secured from the top down with multiple layers of firewalls, secure passwords and high encryption, guaranteeing you a secure shopping cart. Each Spark Pay secure shopping cart comes complete with a shared 128bit SSL certificate. All web sites are protected by Cisco firewalls. All sensitive information, such as credit cards and passwords, is secured using advanced, military-grade encryption and stored on a separate server from the web site behind another firewall layer. Customer transactions and accounting integration occurs over 128bit SSL encryption. The Spark Pay secure shopping cart software is PCI compliant through TrustWave and it is reviewed daily by AlertLogic to check for new hacker vulnerabilities. Spark Pay Ecommerce Security offers AVS validation including the CVV (Credit Card Verification) code. Shipping and Billing addresses are checked in real-time against the cardholder bank database to prevent fraud.

What if I forget my password or want to change it?
On the login page, click on "Forgot Your Password?". An email will be sent to you with instructions regarding how to change your password. You can also change your password from the Account Profile page. Simply click the "edit" button under the entry for your name and email address. On the page that appears, navigate to the section, "Change Password," and fill in the boxes.

What if I want to change my Account Profile information?
Access your Account Profile page by clicking on "Login/Register" at the top right-hand corner of any webpage. If you've already logged in, click on "Account" at the top right-hand corner of any webpage.
You'll note that an "edit" button accompanies every section of your Profile information. Click the button associated with the section of your Profile you'd like to change and follow the prompts.

I'm typing in my login information, but you aren't recognizing it. Why not? What do I do?
Usually, customers experience problems logging in if they're mistyping their information. You can reestablish your password by clicking on the "Forgot your password?" item beneath the login boxes. If the issue pertains to your email address, contact us at: customer_service@amberquill.com and we'll retrieve the information for you.

What if I don't want to store my credit card information on your site?
No problem. You don't have to. If you elect to delete your credit card information, go to your Account Profile Page as described above. In the "Payment Information" section, click the "edit" button. All credit card numbers you've entered are listed, each one accompanied by a "delete" button. Click "delete" and the information disappears. Please note that you will need to enter your card information the next time you purchase a book from us.

So, now I've created my Account Profile. I'm ready to buy one of your eBooks. How do I do it?
Browse our imprints' book pages. Select your title and navigate to the order section. Pick your format and add the book to your cart. After you've filled your cart, proceed to check-out. We accept payment from all major credit cards on a secure server. Moreover, due to high customer demand, we have now included PayPal as a payment method during the check-out procedure. You can also apply Gift Certificates or use Reward points toward your purchase. A drop-down box in the "Payment Information" section of the order page allows you to pick your form of payment. What is the "Split Payment" option and how do I use it?
Amber Quill Press offers our customers the opportunity to use multiple payment methods – credit cards, PayPal, Amber Reward points, and gift certificates – during checkout. For example, if you don’t have enough Amber Reward points to pay for an entire order, use PayPal, one or more credit cards and/or a gift certificate to cover the balance!
Once you’ve navigated to the “Payment Information” Section on the Order Page, here’s how you implement the Split Payment Process:
Please note: Only credit cards and Amber Reward points allow you to specify how much to apply toward an order balance. If PayPal or gift certificates are selected, it is assumed that the entire order balance will be paid with the chosen method.
Credit Card – If you want to specify the payment amount to be charged to a credit card, click the “Split Payment” link. Type in the amount of money you’d like to place on the card, then click “Apply.” To use multiple credit cards, repeat the process for each one.
Reward Points – Type in the number of points you want to use and click “Apply.”
Gift Certificate – Choose a certificate from the drop-down list and click the yellow plus sign. Please note that when a gift certificate is used, the payment process will attempt to cover the balance of the order with the certificate. If the certificate amount is less than the order balance, all of the gift certificate funds will be applied to the purchase. If certificate funds remain after the order is paid for, the balance will be noted in the “Gift Certificates” section of your Account Profile Page.
PayPal – This payment method may be used to pay the balance of the total due for an order. Please note that the entire amount of your order balance will be paid by your PayPal account at the time you select it as a payment method.
The Split Payment Process – After you've chosen a credit card, Reward points, or gift certificate as a payment type, keeping in mind the constraints in using a gift certificate and PayPal as discussed in the paragraphs above, follow the prompts to apply it toward your total, as described above. The screen will update to confirm the applied payment. For the next payment type you'd like to use toward your total, return to the Payment Type drop-down window and click your selection and repeat the process, After you've identified all the payment sources you would like to use, click "Place Your Order" and complete the purchase process.
If you'd like to cancel any part of the split payment process, at any time, click the wastebasket icon next to the "Applied Payment" confirmation item.

Can I print out my receipt immediately?
Yes, you can. After you've "Placed Your Order," the order summary page appears. Click on the green box entitled, "Click here for a printable copy of your invoice" and a window will appear with the order receipt formatted for printing.

My order was declined and I want to try it again. What's an easy way to do this?
If your order has been declined and you'd like to place it again, there's no need to start over, refilling your shopping cart! You can retrieve a declined order from your Account Profile page. Simply click on "Order History." You'll see a list of all orders you've placed with Amber Quill Press. The declined order will be identified in the "Order Status" column. Click on the order's link and its summary page appears. Under "Order Status" you'll see the words: "To retry or use another credit card, please click here." After clicking the link, you'll return to the order page. There, you'll have another opportunity to input your payment information. You can then proceed with the purchase.

What happened to my bookshelf when you changed websites?
Your bookshelf still exists and includes all the titles you have purchased from Amber Quill Press as of March 2005. Its appearance has changed a bit with this website. Now, access a book by clicking the "Get The Book Now" button next to the title and following the prompts.

I'm a new customer. What's a bookshelf and how do I get one?
If you are a new Amber Quill Press customer, you are given a private bookshelf once you've created an account on our website. It includes titles of all the books you purchase from us. Simply click "Bookshelf" in the menu bar at the top of all AQP webpages. Download your book by clicking on the "Get The Book Now" button next to the title and following the prompts. Every book you buy subsequently will be added to that bookshelf. Please note that you need to be logged in to your website customer account to access your bookshelf.

How do I access my bookshelf on this website?
Click on "Bookshelf" at the top of any webpage.

How do I change formats?
For orders placed on our website, formats can be changed in multiple ways. Immediately after an order is completed, click on the "Get The Book Now" button from the Order Summary page and a window appears. There, you'll see radio buttons offering format choices. Click the radio button next to your desired format. To change formats for books from a past order, go to your Account Profile page and click on "Order History." Click on the order number that contains the books you want to change and the "Order Summary" page appears with the same download opportunities you received when you first placed the order. The window that appears after you click on "Get The Book Now" provides you an opportunity to change book formats.
You can also change formats from your bookshelf. Click on "Bookshelf" in the menu bar at the top of any webpage. When the list of titles comprising your bookshelf appears, find the title for which you want to change formats and click on the "Get The Book Now" button next to it. Then follow the steps outlined in the immediately preceding paragraph.
For orders placed before the AQP website changed, formats can be changed from your bookshelf as discussed in the immediately previous paragraph.

Can I retrieve all my orders placed on the website?
Yes, you can. Click on "Account" at the top of any webpage and your Account Profile Page opens. Click on "Order History" and a list appears of every order you've placed on the new website. Click on an order number and the order summary page will appear, complete with all the delivery options for each book.

Can I access orders I placed with AQP before the website changed?
Unfortunately, the ability to provide you with a list of past orders does not extend to our former website. But the download link for every book purchased since March 25, 2005 is still available to you from your bookshelf.

How do I buy paperbacks?
Navigate to the book webpage and scroll down to the tab, "Paperback Availability." When material is available in print form, you'll see the cover art and a "click-through" button to Amazon.com in this section of the webpage. Click on the "Buy From Amazon.com" button and proceed with the purchase process on the Amazon site.
Not all material is available in print form because the word count of some stories is insufficient to create a paperback book. In this case, you'll see the message "Sorry, this title is not available in paperback" beneath the "Paperback Availability" tab. Some electronic titles have been combined to create paperback anthologies. In this case, you'll see the message "See Paperback listing for (title of anthology)" under the "Paperback Availability" tab.

How do bookstores and libraries order your paperbacks?
Bookstores and Libraries may order any of our paperback titles from CreateSpace (our printer) through their direct wholesale program. Accounts are set up by visiting the CreateSpace website at: www.createspace.com/pub/l/createspacedirect.do. Bookstores and Libraries can also purchase books directly through Books in Print and Global Books in Print.

I am currently in an EU country. Why is Amber Quill Press not allowing me to buy an eBook?
As of January 1, 2015, the European Union (EU) changed its tax regulations as they apply to the sale of digital goods, including eBooks. Now, retailers selling eBooks must charge the VAT (value added tax) of the EU country in which a customer is located at the time a purchase is made. Because of this change, Amber Quill Press no longer sells eBooks from its website store to customers located in EU countries. Our books ARE sold at the following electronic stores:

We apologize for any inconvenience these changes may have caused you. This is a decision Amber Quill Press did not make lightly. Unfortunately, new VAT reporting and accounting requirements are difficult for small businesses to meet.

Your account remains open. The Reward points you have earned from past purchases are still valid and can be “cashed in” for free books. Please contact customer_service@amberquill.com for assistance.

I am currently in an EU country. Can I still get to my bookshelf?
Yes, you can. The login process remains the same. All books on your bookshelf are still available to you, just like always. For questions about accessing your bookshelf, please click HERE.

I am currently in an EU country. How do I obtain your free books?
We’re happy to make our free books available to you. Please contact customer_service@amberquill.com and we’ll make arrangements to give you access to the free books of your choice.

Do you have Wish Lists?
We do. After you've logged in to your account, create a new Wish List or access an existing one by clicking the "Wish List" button on the main menu bar at the top of any webpage. The drop-down list that appears offers you the opportunity to access the pages for any one of three types of Wish Lists: Interim, Saved and Public Wish Lists.
Interim Wish List: When you’re on a book page and click the button, “Add To Wish List,” you’ll be taken to the Interim Wish List page. This is where your book is stored until you move it to a Saved Wish List. Please note that the Interim Wish List is temporary. Depending upon your browser settings, it may disappear when you close your browser.
Saved Wish Lists: These are permanent Wish Lists created with a name chosen by you. Move your book(s) from an Interim Wish List to a designated Saved Wish List if you want a record of the book after you’ve closed your browser and then return to the Amber Quill Press website at a later time. (Learn how to move a book from the Interim Wish List to a Saved Wish List by clicking the "Get Instructions Here" link on the Interim Wish List page.) Saved Wish Lists are always accessible to you whenever you visit the Amber Quill Press website unless or until you delete them. You may create as many as you wish. Each will be identified by a name of your choosing.
Public Wish Lists: These are Saved Wish Lists that can be accessed and viewed by the public. See the next question/answer for more information about Public Wish Lists.

How do Public Wish Lists work?
Your Saved Wish List/s can be made public. Here's how you do it. Access the Saved Wish List Management page by clicking the "Wish List" button on the main menu bar at the top of any webpage and selecting “Saved Wish List” from the drop-down list that appears. In the "My Saved Wish Lists" section, identify the Wish List you'd like to make public and check the box in the column labeled "Public?"
Want to search for a Public Wish List someone else has created? Begin by clicking the "Wish List" button on the main menu bar at the top of any webpage and selected “Public Wish List” from the drop-down list that appears. You will be taken to the Public Wish List Page. Type the name of the Public Wish List in the search box to view its contents.

How do I remove a book from my Saved Wish List after I’ve bought it?
If you’ve bought a book that is part of a Saved Wish List, you’ll see a notation in the Saved Wish List column labeled “Purchased.” To remove the book from the Saved Wish List, click the “Remove” button.

Do you have a customer loyalty program?
Yes! AQP is proud to offer its customers an Amber Rewards Program. Customers who have enjoyed our Amber Rewards over the years will note that the program has adopted a slightly different form.

How does your revamped Amber Rewards Program work?

What happened to the points I earned in the old Amber Rewards program?
Customers who had an "active" account with our former Amber Rewards Program -- they had earned one or more points toward an Amber Reward -- were contacted and offered a Reward book as our thanks for being an Amber Quill Press customer. With this action, their accounts were closed and they were directed to our revamped program. If you didn't hear from us and think you qualify for this "consolation" Reward, please contact Customer Service: customer_service@amberquill.com.

Can I keep track of Amber Reward points I've earned?
Yes! Simply navigate to your Account Profile Page. There, you'll see the heading, "Amber Reward Details" beneath your name and email address. Points earned immediately after a purchase appear as "Pending." Within approximately fifteen minutes, those points will shift to "Active." If you have accrued ten or more active points, they can be applied toward a future purchase. Spent Reward points will be deducted from your total. How do I purchase a Gift Certificate?
Simple! Click on the "Gift Certificates" link at the bottom of any website page. You will be taken to the Gift Certificates page. Select the certificate you'd like. Proceed with your order and checkout process following the prompts. Your Gift Certificate will be sent to the recipient via email message. You will receive a copy of that message.

I've received an Amber Quill Press Gift Certificate. How do I redeem it?
Your Gift Certificate may be used for any eBooks currently available in the Amber Quill Press electronic store.
When you've chosen your books and clicked the "Proceed To Checkout" button, you'll be asked to log in to your account or create one if you're new to Amber Quill Press.
For new customers :
Once you've created your account, proceed with your order. Select "Gift Certificate" as your Payment Type on the checkout page. In the "Add Certificate" box, type in your Gift Certificate code noted at the top of the Gift Certificate email you received. Click the yellow "plus" sign. Then click the "Place Your Order" button.
For returning customers:
Once you've logged in to your account, proceed with your order. Select "Gift Certificate" as your payment type on the checkout page. In the "Your Certificates" box, select the Certificate you'd like to use and click the yellow "plus" sign. Then click the "Place Your Order" button.

I didn't spend all my Gift Certificate money. Can I apply the balance toward future purchases?
Yes, you can. Your account will keep track of your Gift Certificate balance. You can apply the remainder, or any portion of it, toward future purchases!

What if I don't have enough Gift Certificate money to pay for my order?
No problem. You can split your payment, using a combination of Gift Certificate monies, credit cards, and/or Amber Reward Points. Click here for more information about split payments.

Click on "Coming Soon" under the News banner on the left column of any webpage. You can also receive this information by signing up for our newsletter.

How do I sign up for your newsletter?
As of October 1, 2014, you automatically receive our newsletter when you create a customer account on our website. For those of you who registered before this date, sign up by typing your email address in the "Subscribe" window at the bottom of any webpage or in the floating sidebar at the right edge of any webpage. You can also elect to receive our newsletter by editing your Account Profile. To do this, click the "edit" button under the entry for your name and email address.
