Backstage Affair
by Erica DeQuaya
ISBN: 1-59279-292-8 (Electronic)
ISBN: 1-59279-824-1 (Paperback)
When playwright Genera McCanton first sets eyes on golden boy photographer's model Edward Aldin, it's lust at first sight. Problem is, while she's got it bad for him physically, she can't stand him. She hates his condescension and snide remarks. Most of all, she hates that he snagged the lead role in her first off-Broadway play through his sister, the play's primary financial backer.
Edward's early impression of the headstrong playwright isn't much better. Dismissing her as a nasty spitfire and an unpleasant bitch, he still can't stop erotic images of Genera from playing inside his head.
As the production moves inexorably toward opening night and as their hot sexual fantasies about one another move toward combustible reality, Genera and Edward find their mutual animosity wearing down. But both must overcome past hurts to move their steamy and turbulent relationship beyond a backstage affair, one that flares hot during the run of a play, only to become ice cold as the final curtain falls.

Read a short excerpt...
…Edward pulled a script out of the backpack he carried and began to study his lines while the onstage action resumed. Genera contemplated him thoughtfully. He was definitely well-built, with broad chest and shoulders narrowing down to a flat waist and stomach and muscular legs. But his face wasn’t much to look at, at least off camera. His nose was a little too large, his eyes a little too close together, his mouth a little too wide. Perfect for kissing, a sly part of her mind told her. Genera ignored the stab of desire at the thought of his lips on hers—all over her body, for that matter. She reminded herself he was still being a condescending asshole about her script; too much like Johnny for comfort.
Edward looked up suddenly and caught Genera staring at him. For a long moment, their eyes met and held. Genera felt her mouth turn dry and a sudden heat grow in her belly under his steady regard. She felt herself grow wet and thought she’d fallen into another erotic dream about Edward—a daydream this time—but no such luck. She was wide awake. As they continued to stare at each other, weakness coursed through her legs and a flush rose in her body. It didn’t take much to imagine his hands on her breasts, caressing the tips, making her nipples hard. Nor did it take much to imagine his firm mouth on hers, teasing her lips apart, and sliding his tongue over her teeth to ravage the moist softness. From there it was a small leap to imagine his cock slipping into her, herself ready and slick, waiting impatiently to receive him.
Then Edward smiled at her, nodded, and turned back to the rest of the cast. Something loosened in her chest and, still trembling, she took a long, slow deep breath. Can you have an orgasm just by thinking about it? Genera asked herself dismally. She’d come awfully close.
“We’ll be ready to get those lights strung up next week, Chicago,” Mel said behind her, and Genera jumped. Mel stared at her, amused.
“Did I wake you from your nap?” the production manager said sarcastically, and Genera mentally slapped herself.
“You’re a real wit, New York,” Genera said. “You ought to do stand-up.”
“Why should I?” Mel gestured grandly around the shabby theater. “There’s enough laughs around here to keep us all giggling for years to come.”
